Peace ‘Sabotage'
Indonesia "feels sabotaged" in its efforts to maintain peace in the disputed South China Sea and may bring its latest maritime altercation with China to an international court.
Indonesia is not embroiled in rival claims with China over the South China Sea and has instead seen itself as an "honest broker" in disputes between China and the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei. However, an incident at the weekend involving an Indonesian patrol boat and a Chinese fishing boat in what Indonesia said was its waters has angered it and led to its questioning of its work to promote peace. Indonesia says one of its patrol boats on Saturday attempted to detain a Chinese boat fishing illegally in its waters. Eight Chinese crew members were detained but the Chinese coastguard prevented Indonesia from confiscating the fishing boat. "We feel interrupted and sabotaged in our efforts," fisheries minister Susi Pudjiastuti. He also said the Indonesia patrol boat had fired warning shots in the air when it approached the Chinese trawler.

La paix « sabotée » ?
L‘Indonésie a l’impression que ses efforts pour maintenir la paix en Mer de Chine méridionale ont été «sabotés» et pourrait porter sa dernière altercation avec la Chine devant les tribunaux internationaux.
L'Indonésie n’est pas impliquée dans les revendications territoriales dans cette région et est justement considérée comme un «intermédiaire impartial» dans les différends entre la Chine et les Philippines, la Malaisie et Brunei. Néanmoins, un incident ce week-end impliquant un bateau de patrouille indonésienne et un bateau de pêche chinois dans ses eaux territoriales a provoqué sa colère et a remis en cause son travail pour promouvoir la paix. Selon l’Indonésie, un de ses garde-côtes samedi a tenté de confisquer un bateau chinois qui pêchait dans ses eaux. le ministre de la Pêche Susi Pudjiastuti a déclaré qu’il considérait cet incident comme un "sabotage de nos efforts de paix." Il a également déclaré que le patrouilleur indonésien avait tiré des coups de semonce quand il a approché le chalutier chinois. Huit membres d'équipage chinois ont été arrêtés, mais les garde-côtes chinois ont empêché l'Indonésie de confisquer le bateau de pêche.
